English Studio Pottery Porcelain Figurine ~ "Afghanistan Potter" ~ Reginald Johnson

"And suddenly one more impatient cried-- "Who is the Potter, pray, and who the Pot?"" ~ Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam ~ This fine Late 20th Century porcelain character figurine, "Afghanistan Potter", inspired perhaps by his former tutor Noke's fascination with characters from the "Arabian Nights", and offered here in a multicoloured palette, bears all of the hallmarks of Reg Johnson's multi-faceted talent, not only as designer, but also as potter and painter. Superbly modelled, beautifully decorated, and fired in his own studio, this lovely piece offers the perfect introduction to the works of this talented Staffordshire artist, examples of whose work may now be viewed at The Potteries Museum and Art Gallery. The underside fully signed in black script, viz. :- Afghanistan Potter by Studio Potter Reg Johnson.
