This charming Late 20th Century porcelain figurine, "Bubbles", after Sir John Everett Millais, R.A., { 1829 - 1896 }, bears all of the hallmarks of Reg Johnson's multi-faceted talent, not only as designer, but also as potter and painter. Painted in 1886. the picture by Millais, originally titled "A Child's World", became famous when it was used over many years in advertisements for Pear's soap. Superbly modelled, beautifully decorated, and fired in his own studio, this delightful piece offers the perfect introduction to the works of this talented Staffordshire artist, examples of whose work may now be viewed at The Potteries Museum and Art Gallery. The underside fully signed, viz :- Bubbles AFTER John Everett Millais by Studio Potter Reg Johnson.
