A very large and fine Early 19th Century Antique English Georgian Blue and White Transfer Pottery Serving Dish / Platter of impressive size, in the sought after "Piping Shepherd" pattern. This piece is unmarked, the Maker thus remaining at present unidentified, although, interestingly, a plate decorated in this pattern was sold by Christie's, { Sale No. 6449 ~ Lot 62 ~ 14 April 1994 }, at their South Kensington, London rooms, where it was catalogued as potted by Edward and George Phillips of Longport, Staffordshire { 1822 - 1848 }. Decorated in an attractive shade of medium blue with a scene of a shepherd playing his pipe to a lady seated among sheep. Two figures are crossing a bridge in the middle distance right, and there is a large house on the hill in the background, the whole set within a border of flowers and ivy leaves.
